Job Description

As our Data Architect, you will be the custodian of Data Marts, the backbone of Grab’s Analytics. Data Marts are subsets of Grab’s Data Lake and contain carefully curated and precalculated metrics, usually pertaining to a particular business or product domain.
Work closely with business and product teams to assess, collect and define requirements. This includes translating business metric definitions into data speak.
Work closely with data engineers to understand data sources, nuances and lineage.
Design and create conceptual, logical and physical data models, fit for analytical consumption and able to support both snapshot and historical analyses.
Defines and maintains data architecture artifacts, documentations, design standards, best practices and lifecycle management.
Stewards data governance of Grab's Data Marts to drive high standards of coherence, availability, consistency and usability in a secure fashion.
Data Transformation, Data Security, Data Privacy, Data Analytics as well as management of Data Access layers for Data Exploration which includes simplification and improvement of BI and data warehouse solution architecture.
Design and develop highly scalable and reliable end-to-end data enterprise platforms and BI reporting solutions.
Analyze complex, high-volume, high-dimensional data from varying sources using a variety of ETL and data analysis techniques.
Design Regional Analytics Data Lake and analytics engine for use in BI Reporting, data analytics/ big data solutions.
Ability to recognize/analyze highly complex processes, inter dependencies, and gaps and to develop new approaches and solutions.
Ability to explain complex processes clearly and precisely to different target groups and to explain the specific benefits of solution approaches.
Creation of solution designs along with functional and technical documentation related to Data Architecture and Business Intelligence solutions.
Decide on structural changes either to content and/or platform to accommodate concrete changes (e.g., how to change the platform to allow advanced analytics).
Review and approval of solution designs and accountability for solution integrity.
Facilitates demand intake management.
Help define/improve best practices, guidelines, and integration with other enterprise solutions.
Own strategic technology relationships with technology vendors and external communities/partners.

What we are looking for:

Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
8+ years of experience with data modelling, data governance, data architecture, data warehousing, or related fields.
Working knowledge of data modelling best practices and design principles.
Experience working with very large volumes of data.
Experience with working with Presto and AWS S3, or similar big data tech stack.
Experience with building and managing data pipelines and ETL jobs.
Experience in data warehousing concepts like Star, Snowflake along
Analytical and independent problem solver. Meticulous with high attention to detail.
Strong communicator with ability to switch hats between data/technical speak and business/layperson speak.
