The primary role of Senior Database Administrator is to support and maintain our on-prem and AWS cloud databases that are in different database types such as Oracle 19x, MYSQL 5x and 8x, SQLSERVER , RDS and Aurora. To ensure daily operation and maintenance activities are carried out smoothly.

Your responsibility as a database administrator (DBA) will be the performance, integrity and security of a database. You'll be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as in troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.

You'll ensure that:
● Data remains consistent across the database
● Data is clearly defined
● All database necessary day to day activities are carried out on time
● There is provision for data security and recovery control (ensuring all data is retrievable in an emergency).
● Database is monitored closely and it is running in best performance
● Database is upgraded with latest version on time before EOSL
● Databases CPU and CVU patch set applied on time

Key Responsibilities
The scope of responsibilities Includes the following:

● Perform installation, administration, maintenance, performance tuning, secure and upgrade of databases for corporate and internet applications
● Migrate On-Prem databases (Oracle/MYSQL) to AWS clouds
● Assist the application project leader/manager to design databases with considerations on performance, operations efficiency and data and access security.
● Review, update, implement and conduct database backup and recovery procedures and disaster recovery procedures according to application needs.
● Initiate and conduct quality assurance checks on various areas of DBMS to identify gaps, areas of improvement and implement the necessary changes.
● Database performance analysis and tuning in case database performance issue
● Perform mysql, Oracle CPU patching and upgrade on time
● Proactively monitor databases and provide alerts for errors / degradation in system performance and storageEngaging with Application, Engineering, DevOps and Infrastructure team to execute on BAU or project activities
● Working as part of a cross functional team to identify, develop, and lead IT Infrastructure & Operation Transformation activities
● Defining and executing on the technology migration strategy by engaging highly technical teams within SPHTech (other Solutions Architects, Technical Account Managers, professional services consultants and consulting/managed services partners) to define migration pathways.
● Backup and recovery strategies to handle all kind of database critical issue, corruption and disaster
● Develop and schedule database maintenance jobs as well as analyze and troubleshoot problems and implement solutions.
● Compliance to the SPH all database securities policies and procedures
● Perform all database day to day necessary and maintenance activities
● Troubleshoot and resolve all the database issues on time
● Respond and fulfill all the user;s request on time

Required Skills and Knowledge
● BA/BS degree or equivalent experience;
● Minimum 5 years of experience in managing Oracle19c, MySQLv8 & MSSQL2017/2019 is a must
● Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in managing Cloud environment like AWS(Aurora/MySQL), GCP(Google Cloud SQL), RedShift is a must
● Good Experience in database migration from On-Prem to AWS
● Good database technical knowledge including clustering, performance tuning and query optimization
● Well verse in database security baseline and management
● Good experience in ORACLE RAC, dataguard,, ASM
● Good experience in RMAN recovery, expdp and impdp
● Good experience in MYSQL,, Oracle databases,AWS RDS (Aurora/MySQL) is plus
● Experience in GCP (Google Cloud SQL), RedShift is plus
● Good knowledge in Cloud cost optimization and reporting
● Experience with Linux in a multi-domain environment including basic commands, perl and shell scripting
● Good database technical knowledge including Clustering, Performance Tuning and Query Optimization
● Well verse in database security baseline and management
● Knowledge of information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, technologies and architectures, IT service delivery principles and best practices
● Good understanding of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud computing operations and transition is preferred
● Familiarity with archive, disaster recovery and business continuity in global operations
● Familiarity with compliance & security standards across the enterprise IT landscape
● Good track record of bringing efficiency in day-to-day operations through automation
● Excellent ability to work on multiple projects / task and strong on prioritization
● Extensive experience in Oracle performance tuning including server configuration and tracing
● Fine tuning RDS parameters, implement best practises in our AWS environment

Required Qualifications
● Degree in IT or equivalent
● Professional certifications such as following is plus
o IT Service Management (ITIL) best practices
o Cloud certification (AWS, Google, Azure)
o Agile / DevOps
o Database certification (MS SQL. MySQL, Oracle, AWS, etc)
